ISIS SECRETARY BECOMES NATIONAL VICE-PRESIDENT!

Martin Green has become National Vice President at the National AGM in Jersey which took place on Saturday 28th April 2012. Shown below is Martin addressing the AGM after being presented with his jewel by new National President David Smith of Long Eaton 41 Club.

Martin Green addresses the AGM

MARTIN'S INAUGURAL SPEECH

Gentlemen,

Firstly I would like to thank everyone for having the confidence in me to become your National Vice-President for the forthcoming year and eventually the 68th President of the Association from 2013.

Standing here makes you feel very humble. Back in 2007 when I lost the election for this role, I never ever thought I would be standing at another AGM making this speech. When you go through that process you write two speeches – one if you win – one if you lose. This time I only needed to write the one!

It is not my intention today to steal David’s thunder over his plans and objectives for the year ahead. However, I want to speak briefly about two things.

Firstly, I am passionately behind our Strategy and Development Plan which David and I outlined earlier today. As Forward Planning Chairman next year it will be my key job to drive this forward.  And secondly, and longer term, it is my objective to ensure that we do everything possible to secure growth, prosperity and the longevity of 41Club.  Whether we like it or not, we are a declining membership and we need to address this. We must come up with a range of options to ensure that we do not slowly wither away, and to enable others to share in what we have all enjoyed.

I have served this National Council since 2002 in three different capacities up to now. Most of you who know me, know I stretch the boundaries in most things I do. In each of the roles I have undertaken I have made significant changes and hopefully major improvements.  The big challenge is ahead, and I am looking forward to it enormously.

Undertaking the next three years as Vice President, President and IPP, cannot be done without a lot of support. That support comes in many ways – support from my wife,  Maria - who keeps me on the straight and narrow, support from the rest of the Executive Team – the guys who give so much of their time and energy in what they do, and support from you – the representatives of our membership.

Thank you for the opportunity, and the honour to become your National Vice-President!
